Goddess of Mercy
is called Kwan Yin who lived during the 5th Century. She was born
in a royal family and was repatriated to earth from heaven by the Goddess
of Heaven to render some benevolent welfare to the disastrous people. Her
father was called Mo Chong Wong who was a bigamist. Her mother was called
pak Sze and the other called Lan Sze. She was the only child in the family,
with attractive beauties and modesty, but disliked marriage. She was persuaded
by her father to marry under no circumstances and promised her that she
might be free if she could solve some hard problems in benevolent affairs.
She succeeded in solving the problems and went to study buddhism in a monastery
where she had achieved enlightenments and became a goddess while she was
praying for the disastrous people and was sitting on a lotus flower. This
figure is always accompanied with a lotus flower.
